BLUFFTON, SC (August 8, 2011/11:30 AM) – The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a disturbance that included gunfire occurring at Alljoy Boat Landing yesterday evening.
Just after 7:30 last night, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the parking lot of the Alljoy Rd beach access (265 Alljoy Rd) in reference to reports of shots fired. During the course of the ensuing investigation, deputies learned that there had been a physical altercation between two females in the water. When the women’s boyfriends intervened, the fight escalated, with one man punching the other in the head.
The dispute continued to the parking lot, where the involved subjects got into their respective vehicles. At that time one party began ramming the other’s vehicle, causing significant damage to both vehicles. During this exchange, one subject discharged several rounds from a handgun. No injuries were sustained by either party due to vehicle collisions or gunfire. No evidence of property damage due to gunfire was found.
Alcohol consumption by all subjects is believed to have incited the incident. The investigation remains active as detectives work to clarify the conflicting accounts of events provided by parties involved. At this time, no arrests have been made.
