Sheriff’s Office Investigating Armed Robbery near Bluffton House Apartments

BLUFFTON, SC (October 13, 2011/2:45 PM) – The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred early yesterday morning outside a Bluffton apartment complex.

At approximately 2:30 yesterday afternoon, Sheriff’s deputies met with a 31-year old male victim who advised that he’d been robbed and assaulted approximately 12 hours earlier at Bluffton House apartments.

The victim advised that he’d been visiting a friend at Bluffton House, where he’d had an alcoholic beverage. While visiting, the victim advised that he’d shown his friend a large amount of cash that he had on his person. The victim stated that he left his friend’s home at approximately 2:30 am to walk home.

While walking in the vicinity of the 2000 building at the rear of the Bluffton House complex, the victim was approached by an unknown black male who brandished a pistol and demanded the victim’s money. The suspect then struck the victim in the head with the pistol several times, causing the victim to lose consciousness. Upon coming to, the victim discovered his money and the suspect were gone.

Following the attack, the victim walked home where he again passed out. After being discovered at home by his wife hours later, the victim contacted law enforcement.

Only a limited description of the suspect was available, being described as a 5’10” black male between the ages of 25-30.
