HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (November 14, 2011/10:30 AM) – The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred at an apartment complex on the north end of Hilton Head Friday night.
Deputies responded to The Oaks just after 11 pm Friday in reference to an attempted robbery occurring at an apartment moments earlier. There they met with a 27-year old male who advised that an unknown black male had attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
The victim stated that he was in his living room when he saw someone looking in through the front window. A few seconds later, a knock was heard at the door. When the victim opened the door, he was confronted by a man armed with a handgun. The suspect demanded money at which time the victim tried to slam the door. The suspect blocked the doorway with his foot, leading to a brief struggle between the two men.
The victim was eventually able to secure the door and the suspect fled on foot towards the area of Hilton Head Gardens. The victim was unharmed during the incident.
