Deputies responded to the area of 20 River Dr at approximately 9:30 pm last night in reference to a reported gunshot victim. Upon arrival, contact was made with a 33-year old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. The victim was conscious and alert and advised that he’d been shot by his brother-in-law, 29-year old Malcolm Brabham.
The victim advised that had spent the evening riding around with Brabham having drinks. Eventually the men stopped and picked up a female friend. The three continued driving around, however, the men began to argue when the victim accused Brabham of cheating on the victim’s sister the female riding with them.
During the course of the argument, the female decided to exit the vehicle and walked away, leaving the two men to continue their argument. The men continued driving to the area of Holly Hall Rd and Little Capers Rd where Brabham stopped the car. The victim exited the vehicle as the dispute continued to escalate. At that time, Brabham retrieved a handgun and shot the victim in the torso.
Brabham then fled the area, leaving the victim wounded on the roadside. The victim walked to a nearby home on River Dr where he sought help from residents. The victim was initially transported to Beaufort Memorial then transferred to MUSC, where he remains in stable condition.
